What is non melanoma skin cancer?

People with extended exposure to the sun are at higher risk of developing a skin cancer, which can begin as a sore, lesion, spot or some other form of skin abnormality.

A non-melanoma skin cancer typically appears on an area of your skin that is exposed to the sun. About three-quarters of non-melanoma skin cancers are basal cell carcinomas, the balance (25%) are squamous cell carcinomas.

You could also be at higher risk of developing a non melanoma skin cancer if you have a light complexion, fair skin or have a weak immune system.
